The Role:
We are offering an exciting and rare opportunity for three new Modern Apprentices in Life Sciences – Cell and Gene Therapy to join our rapidly expanding company in a Technician capacity. During your four days per week on-site, you will rotate around each of our key departments – Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Development and Supply Chain – spending approximately six months in each. You will work alongside highly collaborative teams working on pioneering technologies, developing valuable skills in the manufacturing of Cell & Gene Therapy products. We will introduce you to the principles of cell-based manufacturing and the science behind Cell & Gene Therapies with the aim of becoming competent in the start-up, operation and completion of manufacturing batches following quality and regulatory procedures.
One day per week will be spent at College, working on a HNC in Applied Sciences (or HND if you already hold a HNC). Additionally, integrated into the Modern Apprenticeship will be programmes covering the key workplace skills of communication, IT, numeracy, working with others and teambuilding, leading to additional Laboratory & Associated Technical Activities SVQ and Core Skills qualifications.

Qualifications:
This is a paid entry-level position under the Modern Apprenticeship programme. You will hold either;
- Two Highers including Maths and a Science subject (ideally Biology or Chemistry) and four Standard Grades at Level 3/four National 5 Awards including English.
- Completion of relevant access courses or an appropriate group of National Qualification units.
Applicants who do not meet these criteria but have relevant experience or alternative qualifications will be considered.

Location:
Based at Edinburgh BioQuarter, which acts as a hub for Scottish Life Science with close links to the University and the Royal Infirmary.
