As part of the Innovate UK-funded Industry Skills Accelerator (ISA) programme, Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult are supporting new apprenticeship routes into medicines manufacturing using the existing Advanced Therapies Apprenticeship Community (ATAC) network.

Working in collaboration with CPI and Cogent Skills, this significant expansion of apprenticeship pathways support both early-career talent and workforce upskilling in the following priority areas:

  • RNA and oligonucleotide therapies
  • Digital and automation
  • Quality
  • Production and manufacturing

Following the successful ATAC model, these new apprenticeship pathways go beyond the core standards to provide enriched, industry-relevant learning experiences. Apprentices will benefit from:

  • Talks by expert speakers
  • Exclusive facility tours at leading life science organisations
  • Themed workshops and interactive lunch & learns
  • Tailored learner pathways on the Life Sciences Learner Hub (free access for apprentices)
  • Networking events designed to boost confidence and career mobility

The ISA programme is a direct response to the UK life sciences industry’s need for a future-ready, highly skilled workforce in advanced therapies and complex medicines. These new apprenticeships enable employers to stay competitive while supporting learners with career pathways in high-growth, high-impact areas.
