Demand for apprenticeships surges, creating increasing opportunities for employers

Earlier this month, the BBC reported that competition for degree apprenticeships has quadrupled, while at the same time the number of available positions has halved – from 7,300 to 3,700.

With an increase in demand, there is now more incentive than ever to increase the supply of quality apprenticeship vacancies. The abundance of young people interested in apprenticeships, keen to work and begin a career, is a real opportunity for employers willing to harness it. At the Advanced Therapies Apprenticeship Community (ATAC), we will be working hard over the next year to engage with companies across advanced therapies, encouraging them to consider where early talent apprenticeships can contribute to their businesses.

The advanced therapies industry continues to be a real case study of an industry that understands the value of apprenticeships, and whose success is, in no small part, creditable to this understanding. As new advanced therapy employers enter the fray, ATAC needs to make sure we are linked in with them from the outset, so that apprenticeships may continue to play a significant part in the development of this exciting sector, as they have since 2018.
