What will the apprentice be doing?

This is an unusual and varied role, where the apprentice will develop and learn technical skills and provide a professional, high-quality customer focused service. The BioEscalator Apprentice Laboratory Technician will be a key member of the BioEscalator team, assisting and learning from an experienced Laboratory Manager and the other members of the team. Your main role will be daily organisational tasks for running the laboratories, receiving on-the job training in a range of technical activities ranging from general laboratory housekeeping, to understanding the management of scientific equipment, Health & Safety within the work place, purchasing equipment/supplies and assisting tenants. The BioEscalator has commercial tenants and this is a customer-focused role, so the employer is looking for a mature and practical person who communicates well and is keen and quick to learn with a can-do attitude.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Applied Science.
During your apprenticeship, you will work full-time (36.5 hours per week) at the BioEscalator Innovation Building (part of the Medical Sciences Division) at the Old Road Campus, Headington.  The 2-year training programme will include in-house training as well as day-release or other distance learning methods delivered by CSR group.
