Specific responsibilities may include:
- Participation in reagent preparation, general Employee Health and Safety, risk assessments, general laboratory and instrument maintenance, including waste management, ordering laboratory supplies and maintaining key laboratory equipment
- Developing viral vectors, assays and analytical processes using the appropriate scientific techniques, procedures and methods relevant to the development of Advanced Therapies
- Microbiology techniques to prepare plasmid starting materials, aseptic technique, mammalian cell culture, small scale transfection and production, purification characterisation, and stability testing of gene therapy vectors and associated products using the appropriate scientific techniques, procedures and methods relevant to the development of Advanced Therapies
- Designing experiments, reporting results, and the accurate recording of technical data in accordance with good practice and approved Standard Operating Procedures
- Operating highly technical equipment, including but not limited to analytical instruments, automation, bioreactors, biological incubators, laminar air flow cabinets, centrifuges and cryogenic storage vessels
- Communicating with a wide range of scientific and non-scientific colleagues within the organisation such as Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Regulatory, Clinical and laboratory teams as required
