ATAC programmes, ranging from Level 3 to Level 7, are designed to build the specialist skills needed to develop, manufacture, and deliver cutting-edge therapies, vaccines, and biologics.
With full funding available, apprentices gain accredited qualifications, hands-on experience, and the confidence to thrive in roles across R&D, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, leadership, and more. Programmes typically last from 18 months to 5 years, depending on the level, and each one is built to meet the real-world needs of the life sciences sector.

The following apprenticeship programmes have been established specifically within the advanced therapies industry and apprentices are currently being recruited into these roles by employer companies.
Laboratory Technician
Level 3
24 months maximum duration
£21,000 funding band maximum available through the Apprenticeship Levy. Employers that do not pay the Levy will fund 5% of the funding band maximum
39 month maximum duration. Up to an additional 9 months will also be required if the apprentice wishes to obtain a Foundation Degree, completed as a top-up module upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.

48 months maximum duration in full or 24 months maximum duration for the fast-track version
